wedding week: a proposal.

as we're reminiscing about our wedding, let's just travel back in time for a bit and i'll share the story of when we got engaged.

at the time, austin and i were dealing with living six hours apart. i was in virginia finishing up my internship from school and austin was still in tennessee at school. i had come to chattanooga to go to some friend's of our wedding. austin asked if he could take me out to a nice dinner to some place fancy. but since i was only in town for a few days, i knew i wanted to take the opportunity to grab some of my favorite mexican food from amigo's. delicious? yes. romantic? notsomuch.

we decided to catch a movie and by the time i filled up on popcorn and candy from the theater, i wasn't interested in the post-movie ice cream or even the cheesecake from rembrandt's {me not interested in cheesecake? gasp!} that austin suggested for dessert. so we simply headed back up the mountain to austin's house.

tired from traveling all day, i went ahead and got ready for bed and went to lie down. this is when austin came in to where i was just about asleep and, seeming frustrated, took something out of his pocket and said "i've been trying to do this all day..."

i didn't even have contacts in so i had to borrow some reading glasses to see my beautiful ring...

exactly one year later, on june 26, 2010, austin and i said our "i dos" surrounded by our family and friends.
