geography.

in 8th grade, we took u.s. geography {mrs. poff, was it?}. we learned all the states, their capitals and other useless important information about this fine country we live in. and then i promptly forgot 99% of it. maybe i'm just dumb, but i sometimes even forget the state capital of tennessee {i claim it's because i've only lived here a little while}... much less the capitals of the 49 other states...

but one thing i do know about u.s. geography, is that someone put the states in the wrong places. you see, there are about six states that i care about: virginia, north carolina, colorado, south dakota, tennessee and michigan. the rest, well, they're great and all, but i'm less than interested in them.

i think you all can probably guess why these are the states i care about.

momma and timmy and family are in virginia.

dad, robin and the siblings are in north carolina.

sarah in colorado and deeds in south dakota.

and clearly, austin and i are in tennessee.

but in case you're wondering why i love michigan {despite its northern-ness and the cold}, it's this girl.

kasey and i have been best friends since forever. after high school she moved to michigan. and that makes me sad. but every now and then, we reunite. and it's amazing. and this past weekend was one of those times. it's been two years since we've seen each other {since austin and i got married!} but it's like we never missed a beat. 

and i finally got to meet her boyfriend travis who made the trip with her. he and austin were good sports when kasey and i totally kicked their butts in cornhole.

and despite kasey's grudge against juliet {perhaps for juliet having relieved herself in kasey's suitcase one time} they've now become friends.

and now, if you're not kasey, feel free to skip over this photo montage.

and every time we have to say goodbye we inevitably cry. sometimes, i even ugly cry. but i'm not ashamed.

but now, back to my point of the states being in the wrong place. it would be much easier for my life if somehow we can get a petition going to move these states i care about, or really the people i love in them, closer to me here in tennessee.
