moc it out.

just a few pictures to share from this past weekend. austin and i went to utc's annual homecoming football game, complete with tailgating beforehand. since the mocs were playing app state {which is where my little brother and sister go to school} i was hoping i'd get to see them, but that wasn't able to happen. waaamp waaamp. also, this was the first year of homecoming without all my adpi friends there. double waaamp waaamp.

fortunately, austin and i were still able to have fun and cheer on the mocs! and i got to wear this cute blue and gold polka dot dress. i think it really highlights my paleness natural skin tone.

hopefully next year will be just as fun, but maybe everyone will be able to make it back to chatt for the game!

chattanooga! chattanooga! let's go mocs! :)

gatlinburg trip.

last weekend, austin and i had the chance to get away from chattanooga for the weekend and head up to gatlinburg. his parents and brother go up there every year around this time for the rod run and they invited us up, too.

after finding someone willing to deal with dog-sit juliet, we left out early saturday morning and once we got there we headed to ripley's aquarium where we saw lots of critters.

this little guys was one of my favorites.

and the smile on this puffer fish kills me.

teeth. yuck.

oh and lots of sharks.

we did a lot of wandering through the main part of gatlinburg, despite the bouts of pouring down rain. then we came upon this little alley.

and this little sign. yes, please.

the ole smoky moonshine place had a bunch of flavors of moonshine to try. most of them taste like burning. or cough syrup. or cough syrup that burns.

but i guess they must sell plenty of it. they sure have a lot in stock.

they also have a pretty cool little place where you can walk through the process and history of moonshine making. that was neat but it stunk like whoa.

next door the same company had walls and walls of pickled products. so you know austin was all about that. pickles, okra, sauces, dips... you name it they had it. and it all had moonshine in it.

and just a little further over was bootlegger's homemade wine, also offering free samples. not one to turn a free sample down, we headed on in. even though i tried some that made my face squish up in disgust, they had one that i really did like and austin bought it for me. although my choice must have been fueled by the moonshine, because i wouldn't normally be willing to pay that much for one bottle of wine. that's their plan, though, i'm sure. fortunately, the wine i picked actually does taste good. so there's that.

unrelated face in hole picture.

also, this one time, like 6 years ago when we were on a trip to gatlinburg, austin promised me he would take me to get those cheesy old-timey pictures taken. but he never did. so this time, he came through for me. if i get real inspired i might scan the pictures so i can share on here. but don't count on it. just know that they are cheesy. and they are awesome.

so that was our gatlinburg weekend. we had a pretty good time. and bought a bunch of candy. peanut butter fudge. yum.

two birthdays and a turkey.

yeah. you read that correctly. and there's no rhyme or reason as to why i'm writing about birthdays and turkeys in the same post. it's just been a while since i posted last so this is a bit of catch up. also, it's my blog and i do what i want.

back at the end of august we celebrated gloria's birthday with a bit of dancing and karaoke.

austin and i even got in on some karaoke action by singing one of our favorite band's {motion city soundtrack} songs. of course the guy had to download the song quickly for us and it since it wasn't a karaoke version we didn't have the words on the screen, but we knew most of the words. plus there were only like three people left at the party by that point, so no one was really paying any attention to us anyway. and that's a good thing.

last week we also celebrated schrodinger's fourth birthday! can you believe he's been with us for four years?

i think he was happy i didn't force him to wear a cone shaped birthday hat like we do for juliet's parties but he still got a yummy birthday treat. he was also kind enough to share some with orie and juliet.

and just because i think it's funny i wanted to share our neighborhood turkey with you guys. we first saw him {her?} checking out our garden back in april when lindsy and rj were in town.

but just last week he/she was right outside the kitchen window.

i like to think he was interested in getting some of the bird seed we had just put out in the new bird feeder. mostly because i like to picture a turkey sitting on the little ledge of the feeder right next to a little blue bird or something. because in my head that image is funny.

i haven't written a post in three weeks and this is the stuff i present to you. internet gold, right here.

you're so very welcome.
